Professor Bubble puts you in charge of a bubble cannon at the bottom of the screen, tasked with clearing a ceiling full of colorful orbs before they descend too far. The game blends quick reflexes with genuine puzzle thinking — you can't just fire randomly and hope for the best. Every shot counts, and the satisfaction of watching a big cluster pop and drop is hard to beat.
Use your mouse or finger to aim the cannon and click or tap to launch a bubble. Your goal is to connect your fired bubble with two or more of the same color already on the board, creating a group of three or more that will burst and disappear. Any bubbles that were hanging from the cleared cluster will also fall away, earning you bonus points. A preview of your next bubble is usually shown so you can start planning ahead. Levels advance as you clear the board, with new arrangements becoming progressively trickier.
Bank shots are your best friend. Bubbles bounce off the side walls, so a well-angled ricochet can reach tight spots in the middle of the cluster that you simply cannot hit with a straight shot. Practice reading the angles before you fire.
Pay close attention to the next bubble in the queue. If the upcoming color doesn't match anything useful on the board right now, set up a shot that improves your position for it rather than wasting the current bubble on a low-value hit.
Prioritize clearing bubbles near the top of the cluster. Popping them causes everything attached below to drop at once, wiping out large sections of the board in a single move and keeping the ceiling safely high.
